Remembrance Day
Academies across our Trust honoured the bravery and sacrifices made by those who have served in the armed forces for Remembrance Day; children and staff have been participating in a range of meaningful activities to mark the occasion, from attending parades and services to creating thoughtful crafts that reflect the significance of this day. Through these acts of remembrance, our children not only learn about history but develop a deeper understanding of respect, gratitude, and the importance of community.
A highlight of Remembrance Day activities for many of our academies, was attending local parades and services. For children, these events offered an opportunity to engage with the broader community and reflect on the lives of those who gave everything for our freedoms. Whether marching alongside veterans or quietly observing a moment of silence, academy communities paid their respects and connected with the history of Remembrance. In addition to the outdoor ceremonies, Remembrance assemblies have taken place to educate and engage children in reflection.
This year, several academies engaged children in making poppy suncatchers—beautiful, stained-glass inspired creations that symbolize the poppies that grew in the battlefields of World War I. Crafting plays a key role in helping children connect with the theme of Remembrance in a hands-on, creative way.
We are incredibly proud of all the schools within our Trust for their dedication to these activities and their ongoing commitment to teaching and sharing the profound significance of Remembrance Day.
