Staffordshire University Academies Trust (SUAT) is in a strong position to support Academy improvement, in all aspects, due to its internal expertise, tailored CPD programme, track record of school improvement and link to the considerable resources of Staffordshire University, including the Institute of Education.

EYFS Hub

Intended outcomes

To support & promote effective EYFS practice across the Trust, ensuring that all SUAT schools are supported in delivering high quality provision.

To improve pupil outcomes and provision in the EYFS through:

  • Working collaboratively to find solutions to identified issues
  • Identifying and sharing best practice
  • Supporting effective EYFS curriculum development that is ambitious for all children and meets the individual needs, interests and development of all children
  • Supporting effective EYFS assessment procedures
  • Developing and ensuring the effectiveness of EYFS leadership and management
  • Ensuring all practitioners are knowledgeable, highly skilled and effective
  • Developing cycles of effective monitoring of EYFS provision and practice
  • Developing EYFS policy and procedure in response to latest policy, research and guidance

  • To support and promote effective mental health and wellbeing provision across the Trust.
  • To support the Trust and academies to provide a working and learning environment whereby individual and organisational wellbeing is embedded in everything that we do.
  • To support the workforce which is happy, healthy, resilient and productive, to thrive personally and professionally.
  • To support children to flourish and improve their life chances.
  • Training and CPD provides Wellbeing Leads with the knowledge, skills and confidence to support mental health and wellbeing
  • To provide a network of support and supervision for wellbeing leads
  • To reflect, discuss and share best practice to cascade across the Trust and improve the effectiveness of wellbeing strategies across the Trust

Safeguarding Hubs

Intended outcomes

To effectively safeguard each and every child throughout their educational career within SUAT academies, to ensure that they achieve the best outcomes in a safe and enriching learning environment by ensuring that:

  • Safeguarding CPD provides all practitioners with the knowledge, skills and confidence to safeguard pupils effectively
  • A consistent approach to supervision enables DSLs to fulfil their role whilst minimising impact on personal wellbeing
  • Discuss any issues – particularly concerning pupil’s development or wellbeing, including child protection concerns.
  • Identify solutions to address issues as they arise.
  • Share best practice to improve their personal effectiveness.
  • Critically reflect on practice
  • Make use of the support offered to help cope with the demands of protecting pupils.
