Littleton Green Community School Ofsted Inspection
Staffordshire University Academies Trust is very pleased to share the positive outcomes of the recent Ofsted inspection at Littleton Green Community School, one of the members of our family of schools. The Academy has been recognised for maintaining the high standards identified in their previous inspection, alongside the strengths of the school community.
Littleton Green Community School believe in fostering a happy and supportive atmosphere where children feel valued and empowered; the school community is guided by the PURPLE values: Proud, Unique, Reflective, Positive, Loving, and Empowered which help pupils to develop essential skills for life and are at the core of the school.
The Academy is committed to ensuring that every child thrives academically, socially and emotionally and providing an enriched curriculum that inspires a love for learning and prepares their children for future success. Their goal is to create a community of happy, confident, and resilient learners who are ready to take on the challenges of the world.
‘Pupils and staff have a strong sense of belonging at Littleton Green. It provides a happy and supportive environment, where pupils feel valued and achieve well. The school’s ethos is guided by its ‘PURPLE’ values. Pupils speak proudly of raising funds to buy their purple school blazers, which they wear with pride.’
The Academy is committed to providing an effective learning environment and curriculum that will help every single one of their children discover and develop their talents and the thing that makes them unique. ‘The school strives constantly to improve the quality of education pupils receive and raise their achievement further.’ ‘Pupils learn well across different subjects and remember much of what they are taught.’
The Ofsted report recognises the positive impact of the academy’s approach to supporting communication and seeking help through the effective use of restorative practice and solution circles, helping children to ‘learn strategies to manage their emotions positively and resolve any differences responsibly.’ Pupils are provided with opportunities to use and develop deeper thinking skills, to reflect upon their learning and to make changes to the work that they have produced. In order for them to make a change children are encouraged to consider the implications of all of their actions and be critical thinkers and find solutions before choosing the right course of action.
The inspection praised the leadership and management of the school and the leadership team’s commitment to maintaining high standards of education and well-being, and the effective support of the Local Academy Council and Trust: ‘The school is led and managed well. The Trust and local academy committee provide the school with effective challenge and support. Staff appreciate the consideration given by the school to their workload and well-being.’
Littleton Green’s curriculum provides children with the skills to recognise their place in local, national, and international contexts, where children are taught the importance of developing a love and respect for the world in which they live, the environment and plants and animals within it. Children will also learn to love each other and themselves, empathise with others and respect other points of view whilst developing their own point of view which they can express with pride.
‘Staff use their strong knowledge to implement the curriculum effectively. This starts in the pre-school for two-year-olds, where the foundations for learning are laid securely. Children benefit from high-quality adult care and attention. They learn to communicate, listen, count, follow instructions and share. These skills effectively sow the seeds for children’s future learning.’
We are proud of the ongoing hard work and commitment of the staff, children and community at Littleton Green Community School to achieve better outcomes. Congratulations!
