Littleton Green open a brand-new Alternative Provision
Staffordshire University Academies Trust and the staff and children of Littleton Green Community School were proud to celebrate the opening of a brand-new building to support the Alternative Provision called ‘The Grove,’ housed at Littleton Green, this week, for children within the local communities with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
The event included a tour of the facility, a presentation surrounding the Academy’s mission and goals, and an opportunity for stakeholders to network and recognise this milestone, following the running of a successful provision in the Academy for five years.
This new provision aims to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for students who require alternative educational pathways; the commitment to the new building and provision highlights the importance of such initiatives in our communities.
Children attending the provision are incredibly pleased to see the opening of their new purpose-built resource base. Located within a mainstream school setting, the building includes a modern classroom with a separate entrance, toilets and meeting room, which provides a supportive and inclusive environment for pupils, and whilst it is within the school grounds, it is independent of the mainstream school building. The building has been designed to align to the theme and facilities within Littleton Green’s main school building, to provide consistency, identity and inclusivity in the learning environment.
Lynn Thorneycroft, Littleton Green Community School’s Headteacher said: “This milestone marks a significant step forward in our commitment to providing inclusive and supportive educational opportunities for all students.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Local Authority for their unwavering support and guidance throughout this journey. Their dedication to improving educational outcomes has been instrumental in making this vision a reality.
We also wish to express our deep gratitude to Staffordshire University Academies Trust for their investment and support in our mission. Your belief in our potential at Littleton Green has empowered us to create a nurturing environment where every student can thrive. Together, we have built a foundation that will inspire and empower future generations.”
The academy focuses on mainstream educational attainment, regardless of the pupils circumstances, and provides therapy, emotional coaching and behavioural support which addresses behavioural and emotional well-being to remove barriers to learning.
Jonathan Price, Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet member for Education and SEND, said: “It’s great to see the children settling into their new base and enjoying learning. We want all children with special educational needs and disabilities to have the opportunity be able to reach their potential. This new well equipped resource base means children can get the right support, at the right time and in their own communities.
“The improved facilities at the school are part of a wider programme to create additional SEND places and also improve and adapt existing facilities at schools right across the county.”
Congratulations to Littleton Green Community School!
