We’re delighted to see that the schools in our Trust recently hosted their own celebrations for the King’s Coronation. Children and their families were invited to take part in the individual events and had a thoroughly royal time!

All Saint’s Bednall

All Saints (Bednall) thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the King’s Coronation. We looked resplendent dressed in red, white and blue with a few princesses and some amazing crowns thrown in for good measure. We started the day learning about what will happen during the Coronation ceremony as well as the special Coronation Regalia that will be used. We have been colouring, making crowns and Union Jack flags, doing word searches and many more Coronation themed activities. We had great fun trying the traditional All Saints maypole and discovered it’s far trickier than it looks! Then we had a lovely surprise – a Coronation Sundae special – what a delicious treat!!

In the afternoon, each class put on a fabulous performance to celebrate this special occasion with poetry, singing, cheerleading and even Ukulele playing! The Best Crown competition followed – so much effort had gone into the designs and the children looked amazing. Our day finished on the courtyard with the children singing a rousing rendition of “God Save the King” accompanied by Years 5 and 6 on the ukulele – a fitting end to jam packed day of celebrations.

All Saints CE Academy, Denstone

All Saints celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III in style.  The children came dressed in red, white and blue and took part in a range of morning activities including making crowns and kites.  Our cook put on a lovely ‘street party’ picnic lunch, which we had in the hall due to the rain! In the afternoon we had fun flying our kites on the field and then when our parents arrived, we enjoyed coffee and cake, thanks to our amazing PTA.

St Paul’s First School

On Friday 5th May we celebrated the Coronation of King Charles III by dressing in our party clothes and spending the day taking part in lots of coronation activities. These included completing research and fact files about King Charles and lots of art and craft activities. We also invited our families into school to take part in some other craft activities and then we sang our coronation songs to them. In Key Stage 2 we also had a quiz which tested our knowledge of monarchy past and present! Finally, children across school entered our competition to design a crown. These are now creating a fabulous display in our school entrance.

Charnwood

On Friday 5th May, our Years 3 and 4 joined more than 150 children from local schools and Lichfield Cathedral Choir to “Sing for the King” at Lichfield Cathedral. Our children had front row seats to Sing for the King which was featured on BBC Midlands.

We also had some fantastic celebrations in school where our children decorated their own Coronation plates.

St Edward’s CE Academy

Today has been a fantastic day made even better because the weather stayed dry for us! We celebrated the coronation of King Freddie and Queen Macey (our oldest boy and girl) in St Edward’s church. The whole school went on a flag waving procession around Cheddleton and were joined by their families and the community. Thank you so much to everyone who supported us by waving and joining the procession. We completed our celebrations with a community picnic, a short speech from our newly crowned King and some of us even tried quiche for the first time.

Thank you to the PTFA for the commemorative book marks and the Local Parish Council for the commemorative mugs that will be treasured forever along with some very happy memories!

Church Eaton Primary School

At Church Eaton Primary School we held a Coronation Picnic. The children made sandwiches and crowns in preparation for the event. We also took part in the village scarecrow event and made a kingly contribution. Fun was had by all- there was even a conga on the field.

Tynsel Parkes C.E Primary Academy

Tynsel Parkes C.E Primary Academy cordially invited all our children to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort on Friday 5th May 2023 by dressing in regal red, white and blue. There was a lovely air of excitement in the school as the children completed a range of Coronation activities throughout the day including making: flags, crowns and medals, fingertip paintings, plate designs, cakes and crown shaped biscuits. After eating lunch fit for a King, we came together as a school wearing our crowns to explore British Values and discuss what we expected to see in London, as well as looking at the royal family tree. We finished off by putting our singing voices to the test with a rousing version of The National Anthem!   All the children were given a sunflower to take home and grow after planting Coronation wildflowers in the school grounds. The day was a great example of how Tynsel Parkes embraces and promotes the importance of community within our school. Thank you to all everyone involved in making this such a memorable occasion for the children. What a fantastic day we had!  ‘God save the King’

Little Aston Primary Academy

We celebrated the King’s Coronation during the week beginning 1 May 2023 with the children taking part in a number of activities to mark this special occasion. These included gardening and forest school activities as well as music, dance, history, art projects and learning what the Coronation means to the nation. This culminated in our coronation celebration day on Friday 5th May when the whole school community dressed in red, white and blue. Our student council held a Coronation cake sale and parents were invited in to celebrate and see everything the children had made. This was all followed by a PTA tea party after school. It was a wonderful opportunity to get the whole school community together.
Our main highlights included
  • our Early Years showcase of their model of Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, King Charles and Queen Camilla as well as their portraits of the King.
  • our whole school art project creating a mosaic, in which every child and staff member contributed. We designed the drawing inspiration from the official emblem, show casing the flora from each of the four nations of the UK: the rose for England, the thistle for Scotland, the daffodil for Wales and the shamrock for Norther Ireland. In addition to the mosaic we used recycled plastic including bags and bottle tops to make representations of these flowers, bees and ladybirds in tribute to King Charles dedication to the environment.

Littleton Green Community School

The King’s Coronation Picnic – Huge Success!

On Friday 5th May, nearly 400 parents and carers joined the children and staff at Littleton Green in a picnic to celebrate the King’s coronation. With the sun shining bright, some of the Littleton Green community enjoyed eating ice creams, playing games and having fun playing a community game of rounders. Thank you to all of the parents, children and staff for creating a superb coronation picnic for our school. We are PURPLE!
