Congratulations to St Edward’s CE Academy, who have been re-accredited with the National Children’s Bureau Wellbeing Award for Schools!

This award focuses on using a robust evidence-based framework to drive change, help deliver staff and pupil wellbeing, review staff training and revise policies. The award reflects that mental health and wellbeing sit at the heart of school life.

During a tour around the school building, St Edwards were able to share the variety of spaces which are dedicated to nurturing the wellbeing of its pupils, combined with an engaging outdoor learning environment in its forest school and wooded areas; the Academy embraces the natural environment to enhance opportunities for creativity and to support wellbeing.

The award recognises the Academy’s commitment to its online presence, where a comprehensive range of support is available for families, including resources for both adults and children. The before and after school club spaces offer continuity of care and support to pupils’ emotional and mental development and parents have commended the Academy for its promotion of and dedication to wellbeing within its ethos and the support this has for children’s development.

The Academy has many established wellbeing initiatives for staff and pupils, who recognise wellbeing as a priority in school. Wellbeing is integral to the Academy community and is characterised by an open and supportive culture and the ongoing promotion of wellbeing by Academy leaders to ensure that everyone feels valued. The Academy celebrates wellbeing days and works to raise awareness and promote mental health and wellbeing matters to reduce stigma and provide a culture of positive interactions and thoughtful communication to foster an environment where staff and children can thrive.

Staffordshire University Academies Trust would like to congratulate the team at St Edwards on the achievement of this award, which reflects the Academy’s ongoing commitment to staff and pupil wellbeing.
