Horton St Michael’s First School and Nursery have been busy getting into the Christmas spirit. On the first of December they went off timetable to ‘Create Christmas’. They went into their school houses (which are made up of all students from Nursery to Year 4) and made a variety of crafty Christmas themed items.
The nativity performances have been in full swing and the children have enjoyed learning lots of new songs. Hazel and Catkin class performed their nativity ‘A King is Born’! and Maple and Sycamore class performed their nativity ‘Born in a Barn’
St Edward’s Academy children have been busy collecting items from the forest to make candles in their forestry after school club. They then went to the Christmas Fair to sell them and made £90. Two children donated their fidget toys and set up a stall – a great advert for courageous advocacy.
St Edward’s Academy Early Years children and their siblings supported the church service at St Edward’s in Cheddleton, with part of their nativity performance, on Sunday 10th December. This continues their commitment to their church and provides them with the opportunity to develop relationships with the wider community.
St Luke’s CE Academy had an amazing day recording their very first Christmas CD with a professional recording company. Each class have been working very hard on their individual, Key stage and whole school songs and we cannot wait to hear the final product.
The children were able to experience what it is like to be a pop star and even had a competition to design the cover. Another example of St Luke’s ‘Helping Light’s shine for all’ Luke 11.33.
St Leonard’s CE First School held their light switch on, on the first December. They made lots of Christingles and used their newly developed sewing skills to make baubles.
The children have been busy preparing for their nativity. They performed a traditional nativity, seen through the eyes of many animals.
The children in Foxes class have enjoyed a Christmas Reflections Workshop led by Alison from Youthnet. They retold the Christmas story in a practical way, explored how to help others and how to make things better for themselves. They were asked to design a star that showed what made them feel wow.
Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy children were donated books by Uttoxeter Rotary, and were joined by Rotarian Terry Davies, who visited the school to see the children choose their book. Uttoxeter Rotary donated 200 books for Tynsel Parkes school library and the children were over the moon.
Key Stage 1 performed Christmas with the Aliens, they had a fabulous time performing to the school, the residents of the local care home and to all of the adults who were able to attend one of the two performances in school.
Year 2 went for a day out to the Renew church for a day full of team building games, and escape room where the children had to solve puzzles to win keys to unlock the meaning of Christmas. They also enjoyed a selection of Winter Olympic games. The children had a great time and can’t wait to visit the church again.
