Staffordshire University Academies Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of our new Chief Executive Officer, Dr James Capper. James is an experienced educationalist, with 17 years spent working as a teacher, lecturer and leader within educational settings. In addition, James’ expertise as a school governor and trustee of academies and multi-academy trusts is combined with a deep doctoral level knowledge of the creation and development of MATs.

A qualified school teacher and senior fellow of the Higher Education Authority, James has vast experience in leading a multidisciplinary team of academics, within a large university learning community. Previous roles include secondary school teaching, leading a London 2012 Olympics education legacy strand, national partnerships built with head teachers, and the leadership of diverse academic teams.

James’ doctoral work has been presented at the annual conference of British Educational Leadership, Management and Administration Society and James has extensive experience in shaping strategy, coaching teams, developing partnerships and programmes to enhance educational outcomes for students and delivering key objectives.

James said, “I am very much looking forward to working to maintain everything that makes our Trust so special, whilst pursuing opportunities to continue to develop SUAT for the benefit of all our young people.”

The Trustees, SUAT central team and academies would like to welcome James to this pivotal position for the Trust and are excited about the next stage of SUAT’s development under his leadership.
